Before Finding the Right Therapist, You May Feel Alone and Helpless.
Perhaps this is your first time gathering the courage to seek therapy, or maybe you’ve already tried working with a therapist but didn’t find it effective. Until you find the right provider, you might still feel isolated and uncertain. Even after starting therapy, if you feel a lack of connection with your therapist, you may continue to harbor doubts and face your struggles alone.
We Do Things Differently.
We assign an experienced mental health professional whose role is not to provide therapy directly but to help you find the best therapist for you. Here’s how it works:
In your initial consultation, we conduct a thorough assessment and review your concerns.
We arrange consultations with multiple suitable therapists.
We provide ongoing support throughout your treatment journey.
But why do we take this approach?
Compatibility is just as important as expertise.
When seeing a doctor for a physical health issue, it’s easy to determine which department to visit based on symptoms. But mental health concerns are more complex. Many therapists list depression and anxiety as their specialties, but is depression caused by work stress the same as depression linked to identity struggles as a minority?
A therapist’s experience, the communities they’ve served, cultural background, and values all impact the effectiveness of treatment. Yet, these factors are difficult to assess from a brief profile or a single initial consultation.
Gaps in information and expertise make it difficult for clients to objectively choose a therapist, especially when in a vulnerable state.
Mental health roles can also be confusing—many struggle to differentiate between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, PMHNP, LCSW, and LMHC. (This is understandable, but a responsible provider should clarify these distinctions. Click here for our guide on mental health professional licenses.) As a result, many rely on intuition or trial and error, which can waste time, money, and confidence in therapy. This is why finding the right therapist is often much harder than finding a primary care doctor.
Even professionally trained therapists struggle to be entirely objective.
Can a therapist be truly impartial when deciding to take on a client? Initial consultations often involve a degree of client-provider marketing, and in high-demand settings, therapists may lack the time for a thorough assessment despite ethical guidelines. Training also shapes treatment preferences—Psychiatrists and PMHNPs, for example, may lean toward medication simply due to their background. This is why the best care often comes from a collaborative team rather than a single provider’s perspective.
We can help.
Every therapist in our network undergoes a rigorous background check and is evaluated based on clinical data. Additionally, your care coordinator is a licensed mental health professional who provides expert, objective guidance to match you with the right therapist—minimizing trial and error and helping you start effective treatment sooner.
